Presente.org Responds to Donald Trump’s Comments on Muslim Americans

Sept. 18, 2015

This morning, Donald Trump came under fire for his handling an anti-muslim questioner at a town hall meeting in Washington, DC.

In response, Arturo Carmona of Presente.org released the following statement:

"When GOP front runner Donald Trump came for Mexican-Americans, the GOP stood embarrassingly silent as Trump supporters beat Latinos in the streets. They stood by largely silent when he called for the violent and brutal forced deportations of 11 million Americans without documentation, which would tear apart millions of American families. Now he is coming for Muslim- Americans, and we hope every GOP candidate and political leader has the good sense to condemn this vile and dangerous rhetoric before we pass the point of no return. Racial hatred and animosity didn’t need a spark to thrive in America— Latinos have faced undue discrimination and profiling for years— but with this spark we fear there is far more violence to come. The GOP is complicit in this, and they will be held accountable in 2016, because America is better than this.”
