Text "WEARENOT" To 30644 To Stay Informed On The "NO SOMOS RUBIO" Campaign
Miami, FL – Today, Presente Action, a major Latino advocacy organization, will hold a press conference outside the Hispanic Leadership Network’s 2012 Conference to launch the organization’s latest education and accountability campaign, “NO SOMOS RUBIOS”, against Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL). This major national campaign tracks and fact-checks the background, statements, and policy positions, as well as the political alliances of Tea Party favorite Senator Rubio and how they impact Latinos in America. The protesters, speakers and the overall campaign will demonstrate how Sen. Marco Rubio's extreme positions on the issues that Latinos care about most disqualify him as someone who will “deliver the Latino vote.”
With Marco Rubio in line to become a Vice Presidential candidate, it is most urgent and imperative that Latino voters understand his policy positions and the political alliances that inform them. A full review of Marco Rubio’s political record and relationships reveals that Sen. Rubio doesn’t support the policy positions held by large majorities of U.S. Latinos, and is wildly out of step with the most basic views and values held by Latino communities on issues like immigration, economic policy and a host of others. In fact, an analysis of Rubio’s record reveals that his positions are squarely in line with the Tea Party’s extremist positions, rather than with super-majorities of Latinos on issues like SB-1070, Arizona’s Tea Party-backed racial profiling program that targets Latinos.
