Tell Rep. Ros-Lehtinen To Veto Mitt Romney

Gov. Mitt Romney would veto the DREAM Act

Dear Presente.org member,

This week, Mitt Romney just won the Republican nomination in Iowa and he is the clear frontrunner for the national nomination.  Instead of running on sound immigration policy, he just announced that he would veto the DREAM Act which has huge support all over the country.  

Worse, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a Latina DREAM Act supporter has endorsed him. Let's tell her that Florida's Latinos and DREAM Act supporters demand that she revoke her endorsement immediately.  No one is going to get Latino votes in one of the biggest Latino states by being against immigrant youth and families. Click below to sign our petition.

The DREAM Act would:

  • generate over $1 billion in tax revenue for Florida a year1;
  • allow the state of Florida to receive back in taxes what it has already invested in their K-12 education for this youth group2; and
  • alievate Florida's rising demand in careers like health care and nursing by facilitating the college education of undocumented youth.3

Although we are grateful for Representative Ros-Lehtinen's support of DREAM Act youth we need her to take a bold step on behalf of Floridians by revoking her endorsement. When Gov. Romney said that he would veto the DREAM Act he was saying that he is against the future of 192,000 Floridians that are ready to contribute but can't because of their legal status.4  

The future of Florida depends on us! We need to send Gov. Romney and other presidential candidates that we are watching them carefully. This is why your voice is so important today. We can't allow anyone to speak against the youth in our community so help us tell Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen to revoke her endorsement. Click below to sign our petition.
